These are some of the frequently asked questions we receive from families. 

 

What is private duty nursing?
Private duty nursing (PDN) is a specialized nursing care for medically fragile children between 0 and 21 years of age who require continuous, one-on-one care.

What is skilled nursing care?
Skilled nursing care refers to specialized nursing care for children. Examples of skilled nursing care include complex wound dressing, tube feeding, and medication administration.

What services does Reliant provide?
Reliant provides pediatric private duty and skilled nursing care to children up to 21 years of age. Our professional, compassionate, and experienced nurses work with children in the comforts of their home and/or at school.

How do I know which services are needed?
Each of our clients is assigned a patient care representative who will work with you and your child’s physician to develop a plan of care.

Does the nurse accompany our child when we travel?
Yes. We can arrange for the nurse to accompany the child while you travel, if this is covered by your payor source.

Does my insurance cover pediatric home care?
Generally Medicaid, HMO’s, and most private insurances cover pediatric home care services. At Reliant, we will review your insurance coverage with you in detail.

How are the services paid for?
Generally Medicaid, HMO’s and most private insurances cover pediatric home care services. In instance where insurance is not available or services are not covered, we can arrange for a flexible payment plan that works for your family. We also accept credit cards and other forms of payment.

Do you provide 24 hour care?
Yes. Our team provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are available to provide care on a continuous, intermittent or as needed basis.

Is there a minimum amount of hours required to receive services?
No. We can provide care for as little as an hour or around the clock.

Are your nurses and caregivers insured?
Yes. All of our nurses and caregivers are insured.

Do your provide services in a school setting?
Yes. Schools is an integral part of each child’s physical, social, and cognitive development. Our nurses and caregivers are available to accompany the child to/from school and provide care throughout the school day.

What if a nurse assigned to my child is not a good fit?
We take great pride in our rigorous screening and matching process. However, if you find that the nurse assigned to your child is not a good fit, we will work with you and your family to find someone who would be perfect.

Do you have nurses who are comfortable with pets in the home?
Yes. We have nurses and caregivers who love and are comfortable being around pets.

Will Reliant help obtain the necessary supplies and equipment my child needs?
Yes. We work with local Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers to ensure that supplies and equipment are delivered as quickly and efficiently as possible.
